Gary Kent Watson, 65, passed away Feb. 1, 2016, at his home.

Gary was born June 20, 1950, in Newton, New Jersey, and grew up in Minnesota. Gary moved to Alaska in the early 70s with his wife, Pam, and never left making Alaska their forever home. He came with big dreams and accomplished many of them and more. He loved music, playing several instruments like the banjo, guitar and harmonica, always jamming with family and friends.

He was a man of great talents, becoming a pilot, a skilled carpenter, and being a generous and giving soul, always lending a hand to help friends. His passion in life was helping people. Gary did this best as a nurse, working over 20 years in the emergency room of Humana/Alaska Regional and Mat-Su hospitals. He was well-liked by everyone he worked with during his career, always bringing laughter and positivity to long night shifts, and loved by all of his patients. He had a way about him, wearing bright Hawaiian shirts, and his laid back attitude that put patients at ease in any situation.

Gary leaves behind family and friends that will forever remember the sparkle in his blue eyes and a laugh that could brighten a room. He is survived by daughter, Shannon Watson, and granddaughter, Laila Watson, of Anchorage; daughter, Alison Watson, and grandson, Lincoln Watson-Rivest, of Juneau; son, Nathan Watson, of Valdez; and sister, Pat Archer, of Ramsey, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marion Watson, and his beloved wife, Pamela Watson.

A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. If you have lost touch with Gary or have any questions, the family welcomes you to contact them at lifelovelaila@gmail.com.
