Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

George “Bart” Bill Bartholomew died April 22, 2011.
Bart was well known throughout the Valley for his work with the Mat-Su Miners for many years. He was a retired fireman from the Anchorage Fire Department. He and his wife, Liz, lived in Sutton for 34 years and had many friends throughout the Valley.
Liz died June 1, 2008, and he had a heart attack the same week. After two years of recovering from many heart problems he found out that he had cancer and battled that until his death. Bart also lost his best friend Bill Peterson in 2009 to cancer.
Bart is survived by his children, Donna and husband Len, Wayne and wife Dawn, and Brandon and wife Jamie; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and 10 brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Liz; his parents; and best friend Billy Peterson.
