JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska — Paratroopers assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, veterans of the unit, dependants, and honored guests gather for ‘Geronimo Week’ festivities on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 14, 2019, celebrating the unit’s lineage. The regiment was activated on Nov. 15, 1942, at Camp Toccoa, Ga., served with distinction in World War II, the Cold War, Vietnam, as well as the Global War on Terror and continues to uphold the high standards expected of an airborne unit in peacetime duties and on the field of battle.
