Loving and devoted mother and caregiver, went to Heaven on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the age of 87 in her home in Anchorage, surrounded by her loving family.
Known by her family on the East Coast as “Gertie,” and by her family and friends in Alaska and elsewhere as “Trudy.” She was born on July 29, 1932 In Princeton, New Jersey to John and Gertrude VanKirk; she was one of ten children. Trudy married Robert W. Kramp and moved to Alaska in 1958, where she was a homemaker and raised seven children on a homestead in Eagle River, later moving to Willow, Alaska until her last three children graduated. She then went on to work as a CNA, retiring from the Palmer Pioneer Home. She was known to respond at a moment’s notice to the needs of her patients and their families, even on her days off. The family stated, “Our precious mom went to Heaven on Sunday. She is with Jesus now; she left a legacy of LOVE and Kindness. She was the sweetest most devoted mom. If you knew and loved our mother, please come to celebrate her life with us.” West Parks Highway on Saturday, September 21st at 11:00am.
Trudy is survived by her daughters Karen (Rick) Erdie, Brenda (Neal) Bullock, Barbara (Darrell) Black, Tammy (Arley) Delaney and Kandy (Marty) Schroeder; sons Tim (Betty) Kramp and Darryl (Candy) Kramp; 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Also survived by one brother, two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Big Lake Baptist Church; 10864 West Parks Highway on Saturday. September 21st at 11:00am. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.alaskacremation.com.
