Longtime Wasilla resident Ginger Jensen, 81, passed on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Mat-Su Medical Center, Palmer, Alaska.
An open house celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, from 2 to 7 p.m. at 12305 Wilderness Road, Anchorage, AK, 99516. The family has asked if everyone can please wear red in honor of Ginger. Graveside service will follow at a later date.
Ginger was born on May 5, 1935, in Long Beach, California. She later moved to Alaska in 1970. She worked for the Municipality of Anchorage several years ago.
Mom was a vibrant soul with zest for life, and she had a fun sense of humor marked by her red hair! She was a devoted shopper and a collector of many things. Her home is filled with roosters and chickens of all sorts and everywhere the color red! She loved Marilyn Monroe, Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind memorabilia.
Mom was born on Cinco de Mayo and celebrated life often at her favorite Mexican restaurant and always enjoyed her signature drink… a strawberry margarita. Mom was a skilled and creative seamstress and quilter. She created many beautiful works for her family over the years. She loved to swim and paddle boat on Wasilla Lake. We will miss mom very much and will hold special memories we shared during her life in our hearts forever.
Ginger is survived by sister, Joan Sutton, of Grants Pass, Oregon; brother, James Sutton, of Grants Pass, Oregon; son, Robert Cellers, and his wife, Page Herring, of Cordova, Alaska; daughters, Linda Rearick, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Vicki Cellers, of Anchorage, Alaska; granddaughters, Jolene Rearick, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Moriah Rearick, of Eagle River, Alaska.
