Gladys Davis

Gladys Linda Davis, 57, died Oct. 23, 2007, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer after a four-year battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Sherrod Elementary School, 561 N. Gulkana in Palmer. William Sharlow will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Jenks, Ron Bell, Jim Merchant, David Walker, David King and Paul Jensen. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe, Floyd, Ron and Robert Gumminger Jr., Robert Gumminger Sr., Frederick K. Owens Jr., Bob Jenks Sr. and Billy Daniels.

Davis was born Dec. 10, 1949, in Palmer, and was in the Wasilla High School Class of 1968. She was also a 1969 California Dental School Graduate and took several courses at Mat-Su College.

A lifelong Palmer resident, Davis worked for Matanuska Electric Association since 1969 and was a member of the Palmer Elks and Moose lodges. She was also involved with the Valley Alzheimer’s Group, Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society (daffodils). She enjoyed traveling, shopping and had a love of her family and friends, and especially QVC purse and shoe shopping.

Davis is survived by her sister, Ethel (Robert) Gumminger and their children, Butch, Ron, Floyd, Jackie, Joe and their families, all of Spokane; and cousins, Doreen (Larry) Nelson, Judy (George) Hargreaves, Darwin and Jane Pearson, Ron and Jean Pearson.

Davis was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Evelyn Davis, and niece, Janine Sikes.

Valley Funeral Homes and Crematory of Wasilla and Palmer is assisting the family.
