Gloria Jean (Davis) Brown, 66, died July 25, 2012, at her home in Wasilla following a short battle with cancer.
Gloria was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Robert W. and Mary J. Davis. She was the second of six children. The family later moved to Oregon, where she grew up and met the love of her life, Dennis (Bill) Brown. Gloria and Bill married several years later in Vancouver, Wash., on May 20, 1972.
The Browns spent most of their years together in Oregon and Washington. After retiring, they spent two years traveling the country by motor home, then went back to Washington for several years before ultimately relocating to Alaska in 2003 to be near their only daughter.
Gloria was profoundly grateful for the life she lived. She enjoyed traveling, reading, crocheting, various arts and crafts and was the creator of award-winning ceramic figurines. Gloria always enjoyed the company of friends, but there was never anything more important to her than her family.
Surviving are her husband, Bill; daughter, Debra (Michael) Foley of Wasilla; grandchildren, Joe (Sara) Peace of Denver, Colo., Alexandra Foley of Palmer, Season (Robert) Johnston of Anchorage and Daniel Foley of Kingman, Ariz.; great-grandchildren, Eeamon, Mercedes and Kadin of Anchorage; and her siblings, Robert Davis Jr., Darlene (Jay) Richardson, Jim (Bert) Davis and Molly (Don) Anderson, all of Portland, Ore.
Preceding her in death was her parents, Robert and Mary Davis; son, Grant Brown; and brother, John Davis.
At Gloria’s request, no memorial service are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gloria’s name to the American Cancer Society.
