We are sad to announce that Gordon Lee Romriell, age 82, died on Sunday, August 18 at his home in Chickaloon, Alaska. Gordon was born April 6, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho. The lure of adventure led him to Alaska in 1960 where he worked as a Stream Guard on Kodiak Island. He then worked construction (think of him when you drive over the Hurricane Bridge). He was hired by the State Department of Transportation in 1966 and worked there until his retirement in 1991.
Gordon was proceeded in death by his first wife, Karen. Together they ran the “Castle Connection” green house and the King Mountain Lodge. For many years Gordan took pride in sponsoring a yearly “Turkey Shoot” that brought together sportsmen and women from all around the area. Gordon loved to hunt, fish and found happiness in all outdoor activities.
Timmy Harrison, Gordon’s loyal “elf,” was his partner in spreading holiday magic. The duo brought joy to children and families for two decades in playing Santa and elf with their warm smiles and jolly laugh. A true dedication to his love for bringing happiness to others.
Gordon is survived by his wife of ten years, Dale; his daughter Heather of Wentzville, Missouri; his sister Colleen Reeves of Twin Falls, Idaho; and many extended relatives and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be planned soon.
