Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Grace Ellen Fetta, 60, passed away Dec. 29, 2013, surrounded by family in Wasilla.
A service is at 3 p.m., Jan. 26 at Kings Chapel in Wasilla, followed by a celebration of life.
Grace was born March 29, 1953, in Rockville Center, N.Y., to Joseph Michael Pohren and Grace Marie Pohren-Wagner. She moved to Alaska in 1998 and has been employed as both a child-care giver and homemaker. Grace recently published her first book of poetry titled “Stories Untold,” which is available on smashwords.com.
Grace’s children describe her as, “A friend to all and a stranger to none, Mom found joy in all circumstances. She always gave more than she had and delighted in the Lord. Mom’s smile was radiant, her laughter contagious and she showed each and every person she came into contact with the true meaning of unconditional love.”
Surviving are her eight children; son Christopher Hagan and daughter-in-law Julia Hagan of Indianapolis, Ind., son Nicholas Hagan and daughter-in-law Michelle Hagan of Painesville, Ohio., daughter Kathleen Sunderland and son-in-law Sloan Sunderland of Palmer, son Michael Hagan and daughter-in-law Erica Hagan of Stanardsville, Va., daughter Sarah Goff and son-in-law Michael Goff of Wasilla, son Alexander Fetta of Anchorage, son Jeremiah Fetta and daughter-in-law Alexa Fetta of Wasilla, and son Zachary Fetta and daughter-in-law Nichole Fetta of Soldotna; and 12 grandchildren, who will miss their Nana very much.
Grace has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to sponsor “A Water Project” in Africa. Donations can be made to Alaska USA Federal Credit Union account No. 141275.
