Gregory David Cottier, 53, died Sept. 5, 2011, in Willow.

Memorial services in honor of Greg are at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at New Life Christian Center, Mile 69.5 Parks Highway in Willow. Both Pastor Gerald Keene and K.B. Thompkins will officiate.

Greg’s ashes will be placed in a niche located at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Greg was born Dec. 29, 1957, in Alamosa, Colo., to Vernon Cottier and Zella (Brown) Bloxom.

Greg graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula, Mont., and later attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He completed his education through a carpentry trade school in Anchorage. Greg was a longtime resident of Alaska since 1975 and worked all over the state. Greg attended Willow Bible Fellowship and New Life Christian Center. He loved to help people everywhere and anywhere. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and Bible study.

The family wrote, “As a child, Greg loved to climb nearby hills and mountains. Greg enjoyed fly-fishing and tying his own flies. He was an obedient and hard-working young man. Greg was very athletic and once placed third in Greco Roman wrestling at nationals while attending high school. Greg loved Alaska and the lord with all his heart.”

Greg is survived by his mother, Zella L. Bloxom, of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; step-father, Jack L. Bloxom of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; brother and sister in-law, Terrance L. and Debbie Cottier of Dallas, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Sheila Cottier of Avery, Idaho; cousin, Amy Snow (husband David) of Little Elm, Texas; cousin, Sarah Rimbey (husband Todd) of Corinth, Texas; cousin, Jody Swearingen of Newman Lake, Wash.; cousin, Travis Levi Cottier (wife Kelly) of Hayden Lake, Idaho; aunt, Joann Shaw (husband Don) of Temecula, Calif.; uncle, Edward Ball (wife Kay) of Delta, Colo.; extended family, Trevor and Ethan Snow, Olivia Rimbey, Jake Carpenter, Kyra Swearingen, and Kobe and Tatum Cottier.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Luella Bell; father, Vernon Cottier; aunt, Jean Manual; aunt, Jinks (Vera) Marhment; and uncle, Wesley Brown.

The family was cared for by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory.
