Gregory Don Graves, 58, passed away June 3, 2010, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage with his family by his side.

Greg was born July 6, 1951, in Hood River, Ore., to Donald and Betty Graves. He spent most of his life in Dallesport, Wash., falling timber, driving truck, and he was always building something in his shop. He loved to fish and hunt and also enjoyed trap shooting. Greg had two daughters, Delena and Taralee. After his girls were grown, Greg was ready for a change and moved to Alaska, the land of wilderness and wildlife, a perfect fit.

While in Alaska working, Greg met Doreen Fisk. Greg married Doreen, the love of his life, his best friend and soul mate. Doreen and Greg shared a beautiful home in Wasilla and were blessed with a love that shared in great joys, plenty of laughter and lots of fishing. A match made in heaven.

Greg graduated from Lyle High School in 1969. His loves were Doreen, his girls, his grandchildren and, of course, fishing and hunting. He was a “manly man” with a big soft heart, true and loyal to everyone.

Greg loved his family dearly and was a son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

While going the extra distance, to always made everything perfect. Greg suffered a work-related injury that ultimately claimed his life. However, he did not go without a fight in true Greg fashion.

Greg is survived by his wife, Doreen Graves; daughter, Delena Graves; daughter, Taralee Eaton and husband, Mark; three grandchildren, Mikayla, Tristyn and one bun in the oven; his mother and father, Don and Betty Graves; brother, Doug Graves and wife, Redd; brother, Kip Graves and wife, Julie; sister, Robin Urness and husband, Tim; sister, Tami Toth and husband, Andy; numerous nieces, nephews and great friends.

An informal celebration Greg’s of life will be held at the home of Greg’s parents, Don and Betty Graves, at 1621 Dallesport Road, Dallesport, Wash., from 3 to 6 p.m. on June 19. There will also be a Celebration of Life and potluck today from 3 to 6 p.m., at his home in Wasilla.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
