The family of Gregory Scott Gurley is saddened to announce the unexpected passing of their loved one on March 20, 2021.
Greg was born to Joe and Betty Gurley on January 14, 1964, in Folsom, California. The family moved to Alaska in 1973, settling in Chugiak. Greg graduated from Chugiak High School in 1982, then went on to serve in the United States Army as an ER Medical Specialist in Ft. Belvoir, VA. Following the Army, Greg started his 33-year career in the Electrical Industry, working for Homer Electric, Matanuska Electric, and Chugach Electric as a Design Engineer for the past 19 years.
Greg grew up in Alaska and had a life-long passion for fishing, hunting, ATV’s, snowmachining, vacationing, and deep-sea fishing in Mexico. He was well known for his love of family, veterans, dogs, and kids. He was a generous and kind man with a great sense of humor, was always the life of the party, and man who never met a stranger. Greg will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He loved his family and leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Daphne; father, Joe Gurley; daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Dean Musliu; son, Tyler Gurley, and girlfriend, Hayley Moore; beloved granddaughter, Betty Rose Musliu; and sisters, Lisi Henson, Robin Gurley and Kym Gurley; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family. Greg was surrounded by family as he passed and was met by his mother, Betty Gurley, who preceded him in 2005.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Palmer on Saturday, April 3rd at 5:00 pm, located at 1150 E. Helen Drive, Palmer, AK 99645
A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at the Elks Lodge in Palmer, located at 2600 N Barrys Resort Dr, Wasilla, AK 99654
