Gudrun (Greta) Humphrey, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2016, in Wasilla, Alaska, after fighting a battle with lung cancer.
She was born December 1, 1939, in Ravolzhausen, Germany. She arrived in the United States in 1961, later becoming a United States Citizen.
She arrived in Wasilla, Alaska, in 1983 and quickly fell in love with the beauty of Alaska. Greta worked very hard as a waitress in local restaurants. Her passion for sewing and quilting was a hobby she shared with her spouse. They enjoyed attending the local craft fairs.
She was strong minded in her beliefs with a desire to help others, she welcomed everyone into her home and no-one went away hungry! She was known for her famous homemade cookies-always sharing with others.
She loved Alaska and enjoyed camping with her family. Grandkids were always at the forefront of any activity.
Greta was involved in sorority Beta Sigma Phi and Mat-Su Republican Women’s group.
She is survived by her spouse, James R. Humphrey; children, Jacqueline Gaines, Jason Deemer and spouse Karla Deemer, Hans Deemer and spouse Michelle, Billie Rae Brandenburg, and her many beloved grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 25th, from 1-3 p.m at Humphrey residence: 965 W. Holiday Drive in Wasilla, Alaska.
