Guy Louis AlLee, 82, retired school counselor, died at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Aug. 13, 2012.

He was born in Devil’s Lake, N.D., and moved with his family to Idaho at age 3.

As a Boy Scout during World War II, he helped his troop gather an entire boxcar full of scrap iron for which they were each awarded the Eisenhower Medal.

He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1947. He attended College of Idaho and University of Idaho before his National Guard unit was called to active duty during the Korean conflict. Guy and his wife Sally (Price) married in Manitou Springs, Colo., in 1953, and later had six children.

Guy honorably retired as a master sergeant after 26 years of service in the U.S. Army, with two tours in Korea, three years in Germany and time in Vietnam.

He earned a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from the University of Idaho. Guy taught high school and was a K-12 guidance counselor in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Bush Alaska.

With hobbies of fishing, hiking and camping, he volunteered with Boy Scouts for many years. Guy immensely enjoyed leading his troop on a 50-mile hike in Idaho’s Selkirk Wilderness when he was a Scoutmaster.

He served a term as city councilman in Genesee, Idaho, and four years in Palmer as a planning and zoning commissioner.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Guy and Blanche (Rapsavage) AlLee; siblings U.S. AlLee and Wynn AlLee; and daughter, Renee Black.

Survivors are his wife, a sister, five children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services are Aug. 17 at the United Protestant Church in Palmer; visitation at 9:30 a.m., service at 10:30 with interment at Fort Richardson National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Guy’s name to the United Protestant Church log maintenance fund.

The family was taken care of by Legacy Kehl’s Palmer Chapel in Palmer.
