Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Former Palmer resident Gwendolyn Lenora (McNeese) Lowe, 81, died Sept. 12, 2012, in Madras, Ore.
She was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to Nettie I. (Nilson) and George T. McNeese.
In 1939, her family moved to the Territory of Alaska. Her parents farmed in the Matanuska Valley until they returned to McHenry, N.D., after World War II. She graduated from McHenry High School and married Stanley G. Lowe in 1948.
They returned to Alaska with their family in 1950. She, Stan and their children moved to The Dalles, Ore., in 1965.
She was a member of the Eagles, Elks and Moose. She enjoyed dancing, bingo and playing cards. She was a homemaker and raised three children.
Surviving are her children, Michael (Carolyn) Lowe of Portland, Ore., Cary (MaryEllen) and Lowe of The Dalles; Ore., and Julie Lowe of Madras, Ore.; grandchildren, Ian Lowe, Sara (Scott) Ross, Pete (Lisa) Lowe, John Anderson, Grace Anderson, Laura Lowe and Carly Lowe; and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, George (Marlys) McNeese of Boise, Idaho, and Jim (Karen) McNeese of Palmer; sisters–in–law, Esther McNeese of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Delores McNeese of Palmer; brother-in-law, Robert Jensen of Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Stanley G. Lowe; parents; brothers, Jackie, Glenn and Ronald; and sisters, Joan and Ramona.
A celebration of life was Sept. 23 at the Eagles Lodge in The Dalles.
