Hannelore “Hansie” Gertrude Kline, 93, a longtime resident of Anchorage, died July 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Palmer.
Born on May 12, 1921, in Bochum, Germany, Hansie relocated to the U.S. following World War II. She began her nursing career in Germany and continued working as a nurse in various positions and states after gaining American citizenship. She dedicated her life, both professionally and personally, to helping others.
Hansie was an avid supporter and volunteer for the Iditarod since moving to Alaska in 1980. A true friend to animals, she regularly contributed to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals along with local animal groups. Traveling, baking, knitting and spending time with her beloved canine companions brought her joy. She was an active Jehovah’s Witness.
Hansie traveled the world touching the lives of many and we send our love with her on her final journey.
Surviving are her three children; Marshall Kline, Robert Kline, Kim-Sandy Kline; three granddaughters, Anita Hoffman-Kline, Shannon Hale, Kelly Hunert; and four great-grandchildren, Quincie, Gunner, Justin and Harlow.
The family asks that, in lieu of a memorial donation, a donation be made to Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue, P.O. Box 876888 Wasilla, AK 99687 in honor of Hansie’s lifelong passion for aiding animals in need.
