Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Palmer resident Harrison “Harry” Yost passed away peacefully at the Alaska Veterans & Pioneer Home in Palmer on Feb. 29, 2016 from complications of multiple strokes. Harry worked for the Palmer Experimental Farm, and was curator of the Alaska Museum of Transportation and Industry. Harry is survived by his loving wife, Raymona “Peg”; sons, Jim, John, Jeff Yost; daughter, Julia Nuqul; son, Tom Cloninger; as well as four grandsons, five granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Harry moved to Palmer in 1969, and was married to the love of his life, Peg, for 44 years. Harry enjoyed flying, Alaska history, and serving his community and his local church, Farm Loop Christian Fellowship all those years.
Harry served in the USMC as a Staff Sgt. in the Korean War, honorably discharged in 1952. He will be buried with full military honors at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery on March 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. His surviving family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving and exemplary care performed by the employees and staff of the Alaska Veterans & Pioneer Home in Palmer.
