Harvey Prickett

Harvey Prickett

Longtime Alaskan Harvey Prickett, 72, died in his home in La Salle, Colo., on May 19, 2010. Born in La Junta, Colo., Harvey joined the Marine Corps after high school and went on to serve in Vietnam. He came to Alaska in the late 1960s and loved everything it had to offer.

Starting out at JCPenney and then Sears, Harvey soon turned his focus to real estate where he enjoyed a successful career for the rest of his life. Aside from work, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great Alaska outdoors as well as spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Harvey was a very loving family man and the “rock” for many. Harvey, in earlier years, was also associated with the Corvette Club of Alaska, Alaska Sportscar Association and enjoyed racing at Tanacross and in the Fur Rondy Grand Prix in downtown Anchorage.

He also aided, protected and housed battered women and children. Harvey lived in Alaska until his retirement in fall 2008, when he moved back to Colorado.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Marjorie Prickett of La Salle, Colo.; brother, Arlen L. Prickett of Calif.; daughter, Donalee Smith of Oregon and grandchildren Jeremy Smith of Oregon and Dustin Smith of Washington; daughter, Remington Gray of Omaha, Neb., and grandson Johnathan of Thornton, Colo.; daughter, Sandi Lessman and grandchildren Alisha, Ivy, Andrew, Theodore and Dexter of Lowell, Ore.; son, Harvey Prickett and grandchildren Dakota and Darby of Alasaka; daughter, Lesley Kemnitz and grandson Jacob Kemnitz of Anchorage; daughter, Kimberly Anderson and grandchildren Skye, William and Dylan of Wasilla; son, William C. Prickett and granddaughters Erin and Samantha of La Salle, Colo.; son, Daniel A. Prickett and grandchildren Aviana of La Salle, and Tyler of Wasilla; seven great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren on the way, many nieces and nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Eunice Prickett; two children, Jason Lee and Linda; and a grandchild, Ronald.
