Sonny was born at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas on 11-14-1971 to PFC. Sonny passed away on 11/06/208 at home in Palmer.
Harvey Suryan and Gloria Dite-Suryan. He moved to Alaska in 1983, with his mom, step-dad Knut Braathen and sister Teri. He attended school in Fairbanks, Centralized Correspondence and Susitna Valley H.S. He was employed with Treetop in Wenatchee, WA. Also worked as an ironworker in building construction for a few years. His final employment was with Laidlaw and 1st Student as a bus driver trainer. Sonny loved living in the woods on the lake, helping to construct the family home and showed his enthusiasm for snowmobiling, 3 & 4-wheelers, canoeing, hunting and fishing. He loved target practicing with both bow and firearms. Sonny suffered through several years of crippling Ankylosing Spondylitis before his demise.
His father Harvey & stepmother Zoda, live in Hayden, ID, & his girlfriend of several years, Doris Lee Massengale-Duran.
He is survived by his grieving family members, mother, Gloria Dite-Braathen; dad, Knut Braathen; sister Teri Carelle, son; Miles Preston Milner; Uncle Bud Dite; nephews Justin Carelle, Josh Dite and Jake Dite.
Arrangements are by Janssen's Funeral Home in Palmer, AK. Rest in Peace my son.
