Harvie ‘Skip’ Warren

Palmer resident Harvie “Skip” Claren Warren, 70, died at home of emphysema on Aug. 27, 2010, with his loving wife by his side.

A celebration of life will be held at the Warren residence, 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5.

Harvie was born Dec. 2, 1939 in San Jose, Calif. He graduated from San Jose High School in 1957. He went on to attend San Jose Jr. College where he graduated with an associate of arts degree in 1961.

In 1964 he received his California real estate license. From 1974 to 1978 he attended Penn State on a scholarship and received his degree in design engineering.

In 1992 after moving to Anchorage, Harvie attended the University of Alaska Anchorage and received a counseling degree and worked for the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program where he helped many people. In 1995, he and his wife went into business together in retail clothing sales until his retirement in 2003.

His family said Harvie was an awesome woodworker. He also enjoyed the vast knowledge on the computer. He was a very devoted and loving husband. Harvie was very brave throughout his illness. He was never into how he was feeling; it was always “how are you?” Throughout his last days, his thoughts were focused on his boys, Robert and John, his family said.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Warren of Palmer; sons Robert Warren of Temecula, Calif., John Warren and his partner Michael DeLuca of Philadelphia, Penn.; former wife and friend Rosie Petulla of Franklin, Penn.; stepsons Jason (Monica) Armstrong of Palmer, and Brooks Armstrong of Anchorage; grandchildren Mia and Olivia Warren of Temecula, and Easton and Bryce Armstrong of Palmer; and very special friend Betty Culbertson of Lakeport, Calif.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Harvie Sr. and Melba, and is joined in recent death by his aunt Mary Ellen Stephens of San Jose, Calif.
