Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Hazel Geneva Vanhorn Wysong, 86, passed away July 15, 2015, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer after a long illness.
Hazel was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Brainerd, Minnesota. She married James Wysong in 1946. She moved to Anchorage in 1961, and then lived in Oregon for a few years, before moving back to Wasilla in 1990, where she resided for 20 years.
Hazel attended the Glad Tidings Full Gospel Church.
Hazel loved to sew, upholster furniture and can vegetables, fish and fruit. She loved to bowl, and was in a bowling league for years.
Hazel’s family wrote, “She went home to be with the Lord Jesus, her eternal home in heaven. She will be missed on this earth, until we see her again in heaven.”
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, James Wysong; son, Robert Wysong; grandsons, Dwayne Dufford and John Wysong; granddaughter, Megan Williams; and her sisters and brothers.
Hazel is survived by daughters, Gloria Dufford (husband, Dick Dufford) and Linda Harbaugh (husband, Mike Harbaugh); nine grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
