Hazel Glenn Allair, 84, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2013.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. Friends thought of her as a loving, kind woman of great faith who knew how to pray. She loved to share the goodness of Jesus’ love.
Hazel was born in Texas but considered Alaska her home. She had many jobs throughout her life from working in a cannery in Alaska, Chick-fil-A, and an insurance agent in Maryland after her husband of 62 years got out of the Air Force. Before that, she stayed home to raise her children.
She is survived by her sister, Nita Scoggan; her children, Glenne and Rick Ralls of Anchorage/Wasilla, Lisa and Gary Samuelson of San Jose, Calif., Mary and John Petitt of Dalls, Jodi and Aaron Allaire of Ellicott City, M.D.; nephews, Lew and Kay Witt of Orlando, Stephen and Kay Witt of Straussberg; grandchildren, Rick Ralls of Anchorage, Sherry and Travis Humble of Wasilla, Sharla and Berto Oliveri of San Jose, Calif., Tammi Samuelson of Santa Ana, Calif., Jeremy and Sarah Samuelson of Elk Grove, Calif., Jodi and Richard Dennis of Dallas, Joshua Jenkins of Los Angeles, Calif., Grace, Shoshanna, and Alex Allaire of Columbia, Calif.; and 18 great grandchildren.
Hazel most recently resided in Fine Pearl Assisted Living in Anchorage for eight years with Alzheimer dementia, which she had for 15 years. “The care she received was outstanding and our family wants to extend their gratitude to all the caregivers who graciously cared for their sweet mother. They have been like extended family through these past eight years, especially the owner/operators Perlita and Larry Ayers,” the family wrote.
Hazel and Arthur (Art) will be buried together at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. A celebration of life service is at 3 p.m., Dec. 29 at North Gate Alaska Church, 2991 N. Tate Dr., Wasilla. Both parents will be honored.
