Hazel Jane Schwulst passed away at her home in Wasilla with loved ones by her side on April 3, 2021. Hazel was born on August 2, 1929, in Dickenson, North Dakota to Andrew Gilmore and Mable Plummer.
Hazel went to her heavenly home to join her beloved husband John Schwulst of 65 years. Hazel was a life member of multiple Veterans Auxiliaries. Hazel was working on getting a war dog memorial built at the Veterans Wall of Honor in Wasilla.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Lillian Defreest and Kim Hackett; sons, T.C. Gilmore, Mark, and Brian Schwulst, and Billy Diesem; sons-in-law, J.R. Hackett and Charles Defreest; daughter-in-law, Doloris Schwulst; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, John Schwulst, and daughters, Linda Moore and Kelli (Smyth) Schwulst.
Hazel will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Susitna Post 9365, 301 East Lake View Avenue in Wasilla, Alaska, on April 25, 2021, at 1 PM.
