Helen Louise Daniels, 85, passed away April 20, 2015, at her home in Oregon.
Helen was born July 24, 1929, in Bellingham, Wash., to Margaret and Ruben Ramsauer.
Helen was a longtime Alaska resident. She moved to Anchorage when she was in her 20s to work as a nurse at one of the local hospitals. This is where she met her future husband, Ken, while he was serving in the U.S. Army.
She married Kenneth H. Daniels on Jan. 4, 1954, in Ketchikan. She and her husband raised five children in Anchorage and then moved to Kodiak after Ken retired from the state, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. They also lived in the Mat-Su Valley for several years.
Helen was a loving and generous mother and grandmother. She said she had some of her happiest times when she and Ken flew out to “the cabin” either at Gull Cape or Loon Lake.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Kimberley Daniels; husband, Kenneth H. Daniels, and sister, Jean Kizer.
Surviving are her sister, Betty Ferguson; children, Steph Daniels, Karen (Scott) Hinshaw, Jeff (Dorothy) Daniels, Colleen (Bryan) Forbes and Brad (Debra) Daniels; grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Daniel Lange, Janine Lange, Sabina Forbes and Abigail Daniels.
A celebration of life is planned in June. For more information, contact Karen Hinshaw at 907-355-7016.
