Long time Wasilla resident Helen Marie Smith Sbrusch passed away Feb. 12, 2018 at the age of 73. She was born in Freeport, Texas. In 1967 Helen traveled to Seldovia to visit her parents. It was there that she married, and eventually moved to Wasilla to raise 3 daughters while owning and operating the original Wasilla Arctic Cat shop. Helen was not only a business owner, but an entrepreneur. She was a small petite woman who was friendly to everyone, but always up for a new adventure. She bought and sold real estate, built the Wash Day Laundromat in Wasilla, and was involved in numerous other business ventures. Helen loved Alaska and most of all her close family, friends and her 4 little furry companion dogs. During her retirement years, Helen, better known as Nana, enjoyed attending various events that the grandchildren were involved in and teaching her grand-daughters how to crochet. She is survived by her brothers and sisters in law Frank and Diane ,Leroy and Rose, daughters and sons in law, Tangie Smith, Vinnie and Gerry Dick, Melody and Bill Fletcher. Helen also had seven grandchildren, Josie, Colton, Chloe and Jaylee Fletcher. Garret Smith. Martina and Janci Dick.
