Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Helen May Lee, 88, died Jan. 1, 2012, at her home in Wasilla.
She was born June 18, 1923, in Jackson, Mich., to Herbert and Mildred (Boone) Marsden. She attended East Jackson High School before she moved to Alaska in 1968.
A memorial service in honor of Helen is at 2 p.m., Jan. 7 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 900 North Star Circle, Wasilla.
Helen worked for the state of Alaska in the Department of Labor in the Division of Unemployment and Job Services before her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed Bible study with friends, gardening and getting her hands dirty.
She is survived by her son, Doran Richard Lee of Willow; daughter, Linda Mae Partin of Napoleon, Mich.; son, Gil K. Lee of Wasilla; stepdaughter, Avice Urbanik of Napoleon, Mich.; brother, Robert Marsden; granddaughters, Lana Wood, Lorene Lanigan, Robin Preece, Sarah Holmes, Jessica Dawn Leota, Heather Lee, Amber Rinella and Kristy Johnson; grandsons, Mathew, Larry, Mark and Donald Partin, Doran Scott Lee and Richard Parks. Helen is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Richard Lee; stepdaughter, Sandra Robertson; and brother, Robert Marsden.
Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory in Wasilla cared for the family.
