Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Helen Stenvall Stock, 81, of Longview, Wash., died suddenly on Nov. 11, 2013.
She was born in Naknek on Sept. 16, 1932, and was shortly thereafter orphaned. She lived in the Jesse Lee Home in Seward until the war, when Helen was sent to live in Palmer, and she eventually came to live with Max and Dorothy Sherrod.
In sixth grade, she met future husband the late Larry Stock, who moved the family to his ancestor’s homestead in Kelso, Wash. Helen enjoyed working at Seattle First National Bank for 30 years, was an avid golfer and often wore the color purple. Helen loved all of her family deeply and valued her friendships.
Mrs. Stock is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cyd and Manfred Raschke; grandsons, William and Derek, all of Newburyport, Mass.; son, Kevin Stock of Palmer; grandchildren, Sarah and Garrett Hoboy; and great-granddaughter, Emma of Atascadero, Calif.; and niece, Susan Haines of Kauai, Hawaii.
Preceding her in death was her son, Lindsey Stock; and siblings, Penny, Hilda and Oscar Stenvall. She was the last of her generation in the family and will be missed by all of her loved ones.
A memorial service will be schedule at a later date.
