Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Henry "Hank" Olson, 86, went to be with his Lord on July 20, 2023.
He was one of 6 children and was born in Devil’s Lake, North Dakota on September 6, 1936. When he was 6, he stayed home from school to take care of his sick dad. He also was a loving caregiver to his mother-in-law, Ethel Kina. The Army moved him to Alaska in 1959. He owned his own carpet cleaning, janitorial and maid service in Anchorage. He retired and built his own home in Caswell Lakes in 1999. He loved his God, family, church family, bowling, and wood turning. He was a member of Hidden Hills Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. He had served on several homeowners’ boards and the RSA 15 board.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Olson, sons Gary Olson and Steve (Terry) Kirby, daughters Karen (Larry) Corkins and Laurie (Mark) Murphy, sisters Ann Colis and Janice Snortland; grandchildren Brandon and Tyler Olson, Ty and Krista Kirby, Sean Murphy and 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Hidden Hills Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Willow, Alaska on Monday, 7/31/23, at 7:00 p.m.
