Herb Rosencrans, 81, passed away January 17, 2018 at Mat-Su Regional Hospital due to complications from surgery. A funeral will be held at Good Sheperd Lutheran Church in Wasilla, Alaska at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Herb was born Harry Herbert Rosencrans November 27, 1936 in Burlington, North Dakota to Agnes (Ziebarth) and Ralph Rosencrans.

Herb graduated in 1955 from Berthold High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on destroyer escorts and the USN Boxing Team. While stationed in the Navy in Virginia, Herb met Dorothy Jean Compton. They were married on December 30, 1961 Front Royal, Virginia. After moving to Alaska, Dorothy began her nursing career while Herb worked for Northwest Auto and Alaska Sales and Service. They were charter members of Zion Lutheran Church. Herb owned and operated Muldoon Texaco in Anchorage from 1969 to 1983. After moving to Wasilla, Herb founded and operated Knik Tire & Auto. Herb is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, grandchildren Brianna and Joseph, Mother, Agnes, Father, Ralph and Brother, Robert.

Herb is survived by Daughter, Linda LeAnn Buhler, Son-in-law, Brian Buhler, Son, Randal Glen, Daughter-in-law, LeAnn Opal, Grandchildren; Herbert, Andrew, Madeline, Erik, David, Audrey; sisters Vallie Jensen & Sherri O’Brien.
