Holiday traffic enforcement in effect
It’s that time of the year again. The holiday season is in full swing and Christmas is just around the corner. The Alaska State Troopers issued a press release to remind the public to drive safely and unimpaired.
Troopers are currently conducting increased traffic enforcement safe through January 1, 2023 to keep roadways safe. Additional troopers are patrolling highways and roads around the state looking for impaired and unsafe drivers during this time.
Those who plan on partaking in alcohol, marijuana, or any other impairing substances this holiday season are asked to remember to have a designated driver, call a cab or uber, or plan on staying the night.
“We all enjoy the holiday cheer but driving impaired can ruin the fun by causing an accident that hurts or kills you or someone else on the road,” AST Director, Colonel Mo Hughes stated in the press release. “If you drive impaired, we will find you, arrest you, and impound your car.”
Those who see someone driving dangerously are encouraged to call 911. For more information, visit dot.alaska.gov/stwdplng/hwysafety/REDDI.shtml.
