HOUSTON — A busy political season for Houston City Council ended Tuesday with voters deciding five council seats.
Only Sandy McDonald, Seat A incumbent, ran unopposed and earned 215 votes with 11 write-in ballots for her race.
The other races were hotly contested and saw incumbent Seat E council member Ruth Blanchard lose to Lee Himes 136 to 125. Roger Purcell ran away with the Seat G race 181 to 87, while incumbent Seat C representative Carla Hendrix beat Elsie O’Bryan 145 to 107. Another incumbent, Rosemary Burnett may have to wait for absentee ballots to be counted before knowing if her 130 to 125 vote lead over Don Moody will hold up.
