To the editor:
Hello, this is April Lewis. I am a lifelong Alaskan who has been a Valley resident since I was 9 years old. I am homeowner on Lazy Mountain and a Matanuska-Susitna Borough District 1 voter. I have deep roots in our community and care about our future. On (or before) Tuesday, November 5th, the voters of our community will choose between four candidates running to take over the Assembly seat Jim Sykes has held for the last 6 years. I have had friends and family ask me who I am supporting for this seat. Well... “I am supporting Tim Hale.”
I support Tim Hale for a number of reasons. When I look for as assembly representative, I want someone who understands the day-to-day lives and needs of ordinary working families. I look for someone who is running to be an active voice and advocate for the people, not just another self-serving politician who is running to pad their own pockets or bolster their political career. I look for someone who has broad support across our community, from Alaskans of all backgrounds and political persuasions. Someone who plans to listen and fight for every person in our district. I want someone who brings people together, learns, and gets the job done. After doing my research, talking to the candidates, and members of our community — the choice is clear.
I am excited to cast my vote to elect Tim Hale to serve our community and encourage you to do the same. I recommend you look into his website timhaleforassembly.com, as well as into the other candidates. If you have any questions or concerns, Tim wants to hear them and will pick up the phone.
April Lewis,
Lazy Mountain
