Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Irmengard “Irma” Pack, 82, of Wasilla, passed away of natural causes on March 5, 2014, at home.
Irma was born on Feb. 6, 1932 in Dettendorf, Germany.
Irma became a resident of Alaska in 1968. She lived in Big Lake from 1975 to 2008, and has resided in Wasilla since 2009.
Irma believed in the tenets of Novus Spiritus Church, where she studied Gnostic Christianity through Sylvia Browne’s books. Her favorite pastime was watching the birds at her many feeders.
Irma was loved by everyone, a gracious and generous soul always putting others first. She graduated from home Hospice while surrounded by her family, her race won with honor. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include a daughter, Lin Carroll of Anchorage; son, Charles Pack of Wasilla; sisters, Katherine Gillian of Orlando, Fla., Trudy Hassler (John) of South Carolina and Genie Waker of Pennsylvania; grandson, Keith (Mary) Carroll; and great-granddaughters, Cody Brook, River Lin and Summer Riley Carroll, all of Anchorage; grandsons, Brian Carroll of Anchorage, Tim Pack of Anchorage and Jeff Pack of Wasilla; and a granddaughter, Sarah Pack of Wasilla.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Pack in July 1979. Memorial donations may be sent in Irma’s name to 2760 S. Saindon St., Wasilla, AK 99623. Irma’s place of honor will be at her son’s home in Wasilla.
Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel cared for cremation arrangements.
