Jack Turner

Jack Turner, 75, died peacefully at home July 16, 2011. Graveside services are at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery at 1 p.m., Monday, July 25. A luncheon is planned immediately following the service for friends and family at Palmer Christian Church on Scott Road.

Jack was born March 29, 1936, to Esther and LN Turner in Strawberry, Ark. He was the fourth of seven children.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Turner; and his mother- and father-in-law, Betty and Neal Brown. He is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law Roy and Norma Brown, Ginger and Greg Beal, and Alice and Wayne Hershman, all of Palmer; sister-in-law, Velva Rose Turner of Arizona; and brother and his wife in Arkansas, Doug and Diane Turner. Jack also has three sons and their families, Ken Turner and wife Vicky, Travis Turner, and Terry Turner and his wife Stephanie, all of California. He also has one stepson, Mike Thompson and his wife Wendy of Palmer. He also had 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jack came to Alaska to work on the pipeline. He also worked in Prudhoe Bay for a few years. Jack and Linda were married in 1981. Jack was offered a job to work for Hos Brothers Construction in Redmond, Wash., and the family relocated there in 1985. He retired in 1999 and the family moved to a farm in Ephrata, Wash., where they raised hay, cows and horses. They returned to Palmer in 2009 to be near Linda’s family.

Jack was a loving husband and father. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Jack was a Christian and followed the Lord all the days of his life. He will be greatly missed.
