Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Jackie J. Casler, 63, died surrounded by her family Oct. 25, 2012.
A celebration of life is at 6 p.m., Nov. 3, at the Willow Community Center.
Jackie was born March 10, 1949, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Stanly and Billie Jean Croxall. She moved to Alaska in 1972.
After a brief stay in Kodiak, she moved to Valdez, where she resided for 10 years. Jackie was a devoted wife and mother who volunteered for Valdez Little League, Valdez Little Dribblers, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She moved in 1984 and lived in the Wasilla area for the last 25 years.
After working for the U.S. Post Office in Valdez for two years, she transferred to the Palmer Post Office, where she worked for 13 years. After another transfer and 12 years of service at the Willow Post Office, she retired in 2010. During her 27-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, Jackie’s kindness and bright smile touched many hearts in the Mat-Su Valley.
Jackie’s hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, gold mining and bowling, just to name a few. Her greatest joy was being with her children. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jackie was devoted to her family and friends. She shared her strength and courage with anyone in need. She was a selfless woman who was always willing to help when help was needed. Jackie accomplished these feats with her bright smile and warm, compassionate hugs.
Surviving are her children, Crystal Bird, Vallory Schrand, Aaron Wilon and Jake Libbey; grandchildren, Jason Warth, Brandon Baird, Darin Ravsten, Becka Ramos, Dustin Wolfenden, Jamie Wolfenden, Hannah Martin, Gracie Martin, Alera Libbey and Lilly Libbey; and great-grandchildren, Toni Bird, Sofia Ramos, Myla Ramos, Madison Wolfenden and Wyatt Wolfenden.
Preceding her in death were her father, Stanley Croxall; grandparents, Martin Palmer, Grace Palmer, Tom Croxall and Sue Croxall; and her granddaughter, Amber Stewart.
