Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Palmer resident and business owner Jackson Ray Strahan, 73, passed away in Palmer, Feb. 13, 2015.
A “Good Old Days” gathering of family and friends is planned from 3 to 6 p.m., March 1 at Madd Matters Custom Framing, 1088 S. Colony, Palmer.
Jack was born on Feb. 22, 1941, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He grew up and received his education there. He served his country from 1959-63 in the U.S. Navy. He and the family moved to Palmer in 1975.
Jack, with his wife Pam, opened Madd Matters Custom Framing in 1980 out of their small garage on Lazy Mountain in Palmer. Their unique style of framing grew into a family business that continues to thrive 35 years later. They are thankful for the community of people that supported their local business all these years. Pam plans to continue the Legacy they started together.
Jack is survived by his wife, Pamela A. Strahan of Palmer; daughter, Jackie (John) Clark and kids, Cassidy Drew Clark (great granddaughter Gracelynn Clark) and Calista L. Clark of Anchorage; son, Cary (Nancy) Strahan and kids, Courtney Strahan, Josh Collins, and Sharaya H Dollente of Wasilla; daughter, Cami Marie (John) Kelley and kids, Luke Allen Kelley and Kayla Kelley of Phoenix, Arizonia.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of choice in Jack’s memory.
