Jacqueline Serene Wilhour, age 64, passed away on September 20, 2024, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on November 7, 1959, in Fremont, CA, Jackie became a proud Alaska resident in 1983, making her home in Wasilla, where she touched many lives through her dedication to children. She worked at several schools in Wasilla including Head Start, Tanaina, Teeland, Shaw and Twindly Bridge Charter School.

She is survived by her children, Crystal Cole-Adams, Steven Palinko and Joseph Wilhour; her grandchildren, Dyllan Cole, Jude Adams, and Leanna Krall; her father Virgil Dickens, Jr., and her sisters Cindy Edwards, Holly Silva and Beverly Pomeroy. Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Miller; stepfather, Joel Miller; and her sisters, Debbie Pimentel, Rebecca Snyder, and Darcy Dickens.

Jackie was a woman of many passions. She found joy in crafting, coaching archery, baking, cake decorating, camping, and fishing. She especially loved being near lakes and the ocean, where she could connect with nature. Her love for the outdoors reflected her adventurous spirit. Jacki embraced every opportunity to experience the beauty of the world around her. Above all she cherished her family, who were the center of her world. Her love and warmth extended beyond her immediate family to friends, neighbors, and anyone fortunate enough to know her. Jackie had an incredible ability to make people feel welcomed and loved, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Jackie’s faith was the foundation of her life. Her relationship with Jesus gave her strength, peace, and purpose, especially in challenging times. Through her faith, she found the resilience to face life’s hardships with grace and optimism. Jackie believed deeply in the power of love, kindness, and compassion, and this belief guided her interactions with everyone she met. Her faith not only gave her comfort but also inspired those around her to live life fully and with purpose. Jackie’s life was a testament to the power of faith in action, and her example continues to inspire all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives she touched, but the love and light she shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Twindly Bridge Charter School (141 E. Seldon Rd. #C, Wasilla, AK 99654) on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11:00am-2:00pm
