Houston resident Jacquline “Jackie” A. Braden, 50, died from liver failure at her home on Jan. 4, 2011.

A celebration of life service in Jackie’s honor for family and friends is at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla. Pastor Daniel Bracken will officiate.

Jackie was born Dec. 8, 1960, in Dallas, Ore., to Jhonny and Phyllis (McKee) Daugherty.

She worked as an adult health care provider helping those with special needs.

Jackie loved all her family and friends in Alaska and in Idaho and Oregon. She loved to talk with her mother and daughters every day. Her family said her time in Alaska was the happiest time of her life. She loved all her animals — her puppies, horses and even the beef she raised.

Jackie’s husband, Alan, said her love for the ocean where she fished for halibut and watching the whales was always a highlight for her, especially when God let her touch one on her first trip to the Gulf of Alaska; but especially on the last fishing trip, when they were blessed with watching two humpback whales jumping out of the water and rolling in opposite directions and landing at the same time where the spray of water they made was heart-shaped and almost 100 feet high.

The whales started their show 200 feet away and continued this up until two miles away. Allan said it was, “God’s way of reminding us how special each day is; and learn to live and enjoy every day as it may be our last.”

Jackie’s ashes will be spread this summer in the Sound in Alaska where Alan and Jackie were married and out of Seward, where her favorite fishing spot was. She has promised her family and friends to put a fish on everyone’s line that make her celebration of life floatila.

Alan said he thanks God for the last six years that he loved Jackie and for the three wonderful and loving daughters and seven grandchildren.

Jackie will be remembered fondly by her family and friends as a loving wife, mother, daughter and grandmother.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Alan, of Houston; mother, Phyllis and husband Ed Hartsock of Meridian, Idaho; daughters, Stephanie Joiner and Angie Arnold of Weiser, Idaho, and Jessica Hendon of Payette, Idaho. She is also survived by her sisters, Colleen Macomb of Boise, Idaho, Kathy Paschkov of Caldwell, Idaho, and Maureen Daugherty of Fall Creek, Ore. Jackie is also survived by her grandsons Damon, Trevor, Damian Jr. and Ryan; and granddaughters Elise, Gracie and Elsie; and brother, Michael Daughtery.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Jhonny Daughtery, and her sister, Patricia Daughtery.

The family was cared for by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Wasilla.
