Jim Pecore passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 in Wasilla, Alaska at the age of 93.
Jim was born January 20, 1930 in Two Harbors, Minnesota, the son of Francis Albert and Etta Pecore. He grew up in Lutsen, Minnesota at the family resort on Caribou Lake. He eventually took ownership of the resort with his first wife, Shirley Smith Pecore.
The family moved to Santa Rosa, California in 1964. Jim then moved to Alaska with his second wife, Alta Pecore, in 1975. At his passing, he was residing in Wasilla, Alaska with his beloved partner, Barbara Grace.
Jim was a lifelong outdoorsman, skilled mechanic and carpenter, with an amazing diversity of jobs throughout his life.
Jim is survived by his two children from his first marriage, Suzanne Pecore (Fred Dock) and Brian Pecore, a granddaughter, Stephanie (Matt Wright), and great grandson, Garrett. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Dallene Pinkley and Denise Heibel, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial party is being planned for fellow swimmers and friends at the Wasilla Pool.
