James Dennis Thompson
James Dennis Thompson, a resident of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away on February 12, 2022 at the Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, AK from cancer.
Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on June 9, 1955, Jim was the son of Duane and Anna Mae Thompson Hintz, both deceased, and the stepson of Allen F. Hintz (dec.) and Mrs. Shirley Hintz of Minot, ND.
Jim is predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Thompson, daughter of Joyce and Lloyd J. Peterson (dec.) of Carpio, ND.
Jim worked for many years as a facilities maintenance supervisor with the State of Alaska Job Corps. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved archery, amateur goldmining, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a kind and gentle soul who cared deeply for his family and many friends who will all miss him greatly.
Jim will also be lovingly remembered by his surviving sisters, brother, aunts, nephews, a niece, a son, and grandchildren: Ms. Sandra Thompson Farrow, Falls Church, VA; Mr. Steven Thompson, Sioux Falls, SD; Ms. Dayle Thompson, Cedar Park, TX; Mrs. Mary Lynne Maner, Inwood, WV; Mrs. Cynthia Gerke, Cedar Park, TX; Mr. Michael Lee Hintz (dec.), Mrs. Linda Robl, Keizer, OR; Mrs. Ronnie Kamka, Georgetown, TX and Mr. Scott Lee, Max, ND.
At Jim’s request, he will be cremated and no funeral is scheduled. A private Celebration of Life will be held by his friends at a future date.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Alaska Regional Hospital for their excellent care and for the solace and comfort given to Jim at his time of need.
