Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

James (Jim) Edward York III died peacefully on Oct. 7, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 65. Jim was born on Dec. 30, 1951, in Boston, Massachusetts, to James and Marion York. After some college he moved to Alaska where he began working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and then became a surveyor where he worked on many projects in the Anchorage area. Jim was a simple man that loved to spend time with his granddaughters and his dogs.
Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Tommy Rogers; son and daughter-in-law Sam York and Cassie Janz-Burns; his granddaughters, Peyton, Kimber, Freya and new baby girl on the way; as well as his brothers and sisters and their families in New Hampshire and Arizona.
There is no funeral scheduled as his children are planning to scatter his ashes in a couple of his favorite spots in Alaska in the early spring.
