Longtime Anchorage resident, Mr. James F. Thorne, Jr. passed away on October 3, 2018 at home. He was a hard-working man, who loved his family and many friends. He loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. He also had great interest in science, space exploration, astronomy, NASA, and rockets. He was also a great cook and loved music. James was always there to lend a helping hand or open his home. He was a dedicated father, husband, brother, and friend. He gave love, is loved, and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Joanne Thorne; his spouse Kathy Thorne-Heaps, nephew Matthew Thorne, and second wife Lois Thorne. He is survived by his children: David Thorne, Brieann Thorne, and James F. Thorne, III; grandchildren: Riley, Landen, Samuel, Kadence, and James IV; daughter in law Monica Thorne, and siblings: Robert Thorne, Patricia Stein, Andrew Thorne, Susanne Thorne, Ann Ketterling, and Christine Manuel. James' immediate family will meet for his burial on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a wake at Reilly's Irish Pub, 317 W. Fireweed Lane, at 3:00 PM.
