Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

James Fair Crockett, 63, of Anchorage and Big Lake, died Nov. 29, 2012.
James was born in Pueblo, Colo., to James H. and Rexana Crockett Jan. 5, 1949. He graduated from East High School in 1967 and went on to earn a business degree from the University of Nebraska and his master’s in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He worked at ARCO for 20 years and served as executive director of Bean’s Café for the past 11 years. He was involved with many community organizations, including Rotary Club, United Way and the Muldoon reading program.
James loved spending time with family, traveling and exploring, being at his Big Lake cabin, watching sports, following the stock market and home improvement. He will be fondly remembered for his kind and compassionate heart. He leaves a legacy of caring and making a difference.
Preceding him in death were his parents, James and Rexana.
Surviving are his brother, Jack (Marilyn) Crockett of Anchorage; daughter, Jaime (Brock) Blikre of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Justin Crockett of Anchorage; and grandchildren, Dylan, Alexia and Kinzley Blikre of Mesa, Ariz.
Memorial services are at noon, Dec. 4, at Anchorage City Church, 13001 W. 100th Ave. Anchorage, AK 99504. A reception follows the service at the church.
