James Kenneth Clemensen, 79, died July 25, 2013, in Seward.

He was born Oct. 29, 1933, to Kenneth and Hazel Clemensen at the home on the farm near Ashby, Minn.

Jim was baptized May 5, 1934, and confirmed Dec. 5, 1948, by Pastor Bernhard Guldseth in Pelican Lake Lutheran Church in Ashby, Minn. Jim worked on the farm, attended school and graduated from Ashby High School on June 1, 1951. He worked a short time for W.W. Walworks in Fargo, N.D.

Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps Jan. 1, 1952, and served in Korea, during the conflict. He then joined the Air Force Reserves in Minneapolis from 1958 through 1966, then transferred to the Alaska Air National Guard and worked until retiring in 1983. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 35, Susitna Valley.

Jim liked to hunt, fish and visit with friends and relatives.

Surviving are his sisters, Helen (Don) Robertson and Jean Ann Odegard; brother, Richard (Norma) Clemensen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Helen Jo (Pounder) Clemensen; and brother-in-law, Richard Odegard.

Visitation and a funeral service were July 31, and interment following at Fort Richardson National Cemetery with military honors.

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
