James Mill “Bulldog” Vokacek, 65, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2013, in Wasilla.

Jimmy was born in Kodiak on Sept. 22, 1948, where he spent his early years. The family moved to Anchorage just after statehood in 1960. He was a graduate of East High’s class of 1967. He served two years in the Army National Guard. Jimmy worked as a heavy equipment operator in Anchorage before moving with his young family to homestead in Thorne Bay. In later years, Jimmy worked a variety of jobs in the Mat-Su Valley and on the Kenai Peninsula, as well as fishing in Kodiak. He loved a good joke and having fun was high on his list of priorities. He was an avid reader of mystery and Western novels.

Jimmy will be missed by his family and many friends throughout Alaska and the Lower 48.

He is survived by his daughter, Dusty Lynn and son, Peter James (Jennifer) Vokacek; sister, Mary (Jack) Jaynes; nephew, Brian Johnson; niece, Stephanie Johnson; great-niece, Destiny Johnson; and granddaughter, Jadelynn Vokacek.
