Anchorage resident James Oliver Williams, 83, died Nov. 18, 2012, at Prestige Care Assisted Living Home in Anchorage.
Pastor Larry Davis officiated at a celebration of James’ life on Nov. 27 at Grace Bible Church in Sutton.
James was born Jan. 31, 1929, to Alva and Georgia (Wyatt) Williams in Comstock, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on July 22, 1948, and served 13 years, receiving a Purple Heart from injuries sustained in the Korean War. James lived in Anchorage from August 2007 to 2009 and he had also lived in Sutton.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alva and Georgia Bell Williams; sister, Eileen Homer; and wife, Georgia Bernice Williams.
Surviving are his son, Phillip Williams of Sutton; daughter, Evangeline Beth Williams of Baumholder, Germany; son, Matthew Williams of Las Cruces, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
