James Patrick Beattie, age 66, of Houston, Alaska, passed away on July 20, 2025, after a swift battle with cancer.
He was born on June 6, 1959, in Anchorage, Alaska. James attended Chugiak High School and later proudly served his country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, he was known for his generous spirit, deep love for his family and friends, and for being a solid, dependable presence in the lives of those around him. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome—no matter who they were or where they came from.
He enjoyed spending time with the people he loved, listening to music, and visiting Hawaii—one of his favorite places. His warm presence and easygoing nature made him a joy to be around.
James is survived by his wife, Julie Beattie; their children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at 2:00 p.m. at Janssen Mat-Su Funeral Home.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
