Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

James William Hamilton III, died unexpectedly in Wasilla on July 6. He was born on March 29, 1949 in Vienna, Austria. He moved to Alaska in 1963 and graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1967. Jim joined the Army in 1968, served two tours in Vietnam and remained in the service until 1976.
He joined the Army National Guard and served honorably for 12 years. He worked for Veco, Inc. for several years before opening a restaurant with his wife Kisun. Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his father, James W. Hamilton, Jr. in 1956. He is survived by his mother and father, Linda and George Rinkevage of Wasilla; his ex-wife and still best friend, Kisun Hamilton of Anchorage; one brother, George Rinkevage II (Michelle) of Wasilla; three sisters, Linda Hamilton (Bob) of Soldotna; Judi Mahoney (Richard) and Angela Rinkevage of Wasilla; and many nieces and nephews all of whom already miss him dearly. A memorial service to honor his life will be on Saturday at 2 p.m., at Valley Funeral Home and Crematory, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla.
