Donald Cameron, 78, died Jan. 6, 2007, at home in Wasilla. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Birch Harbor Baptist Church in Wasilla.
The Rev. Jeff Offord will officiate at the service.
He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Washtucna, Wash. In 1972, he moved to Alaska, first to Eagle River where he lived from 1972 until 1993, when he moved to Wasilla and claimed his residency there. He was a member of the Birch Harbor Baptist Church in Wasilla.
His family stated, “Don loved and was loved by his many family members and friends. His witty sense of humor and the kick he got out of teasing us will be greatly missed by all. We are glad he is with the Lord and take great comfort in that
knowledge.”
He is survived by his wife, Betty Cameron of Wasilla; son, Bruce Cameron of Pullman, Wash.; son, Lance Cameron of Palmer; son, Steve Cameron of Nampa, Idaho; brother, Dwight Cameron of Salem, Ore.; sister, Doreen of Washtucna; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
Mary S. Williams
Mary S. Williams, 86, died Jan. 5, 2007, at home in Palmer. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday. Jan. 10, 2007, at Valley Funeral Home in Palmer.
She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Omaha, Neb. In June of 1960, she moved to Palmer.
She was a homemaker. Some hobbies she enjoyed were reading, bird watching, boating and playing bridge.
Her family stated, “We will miss her.”
She is survived by her husband, Walter T. Williams of Palmer; son, Tom Williams of Juneau; daughter, Cindy Williams of Washington, D.C.; and daughter, Debby Wickersham of Silt, Col.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gale Spence.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and
Crematory in Palmer.
Ralph Edward Woodin
Ralph Edward Woodin, 57, died Jan. 1, 2007, at home in Trapper Creek due to natural causes. A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla. Charles Woodin will officiate at the service.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1949, in Anchorage. He graduated from East High in 1967. He had two years of training after high school. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was an Alaska resident since birth.
Throughout his life in Alaska, he lived in Anchorage, Wasilla, and the greater Mat-Su Valley, claiming his residence in Trapper Creek.
He was employed by the Pioneer Home from 1980-1986, and the state of Alaska from 1986-1992.
After that, he was self-employed until 1996, when he opened his own diner, called “Woodeez Diner.”
Some hobbies he enjoyed included carving diamond willow, music, and being outside.
His family stated, “Ralph Woodin was a man of simple means who appreciated the small things in life. Trinkets and photos brought him the most joy. Ralph was a proud Alaskan who took his residence in Alaska as something he was proud of. Born in Anchorage in 1949 and a proud member of the Pioneers of Alaska. He will
be missed much and loved
forever.”
He is survived by his son, Jason Woodin of Marysville, Wash.; son, James Woodin of Wasilla; grandson, Jordon Woodin of Marysville; granddaughter, Sarayah Woodin of Marysville; brothers, Charles Woodin, Allan Woodin, and David Woodin of Anchorage; and sister, Linda Rutherford of Wasilla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Mary Woodin.
The family would appreciate flowers at the service. His ashes will be spread sometime in August at the base of Mount McKinley.
