Janet L. Edgerton, 85, passed away peacefully at Primrose Retirement Community in Wasilla, Alaska on Nov. 5, 2016. A celebration of life & burial will be held in Duncan, Arizona in Jan. 2017.
Jan recently moved back to Alaska in May to be closer to her family. She was born and raised in Irondequoit, New York and later moved to Alaska when she married Jim Edgerton in 1952. They homesteaded on Edgerton Parks Rd. from 1958-1967 before moving to the Southwest, where they enjoyed ranching in Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Jan enjoyed trail riding with the Cowbelles and other friends over the years as well as being involved in various local organizations.
She lived the life of a true Cowgirl and loved the lifestyle they created by buying land and producing a ranch. Happy trails Cowgirl, you will be missed by many.
Jan is survived by her son Judd (and Gail) Edgerton of Palmer, Alaska, daughter-in-law Kathleen Edgerton of Palmer, Alaska. Three grandchildren, Diana (Sam) Weatherby, Derek Edgerton and David (Sarah) Edgerton. Six great grandchildren, Zane, Andrea,Brian and Zach Weatherby, Lyla and Lane Edgerton. Sister, Gale J. Miller, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jim in 2014 and her son, Jesse Edgerton in 2015.
